Brownie has lived more lives than most of us. Registered as Black Tie Aly, she raced 29 times before retiring to become a broodmare, where the same warmth she carries today first showed up as a mother. After her broodmare years, she became a little girl's first horse, the kind of horse who teaches you what it means to love an animal.
When arthritis made riding no longer possible, Brownie's owners made the hardest and kindest choice a horse owner can make. They found us, because they wanted to know she'd stay safe, comfortable, and loved for the rest of her life.
Now, at 20 years old, Brownie spends her retirement teaching our newest volunteers and horse owners the basics of handling and care. The same steady patience that made her a wonderful mother now makes her a wonderful teacher.
Managing arthritis in a retired mare means consistent farrier care and regular vet attention, the exact kind of ongoing support a monthly sponsorship provides. Choose your level below and become part of Brownie's story.
